Latest Business Networking Breakfast

Wednesday 17th July

7.30am to 9.30am

St George’s Café

St George’s Christian Centre

Barnett Wood Lane

Ashtead

KT21 2DA

This is what you missed out on!

Many thanks to Rosie Gunsell and the St George’s Café team who made us very welcome and provided a great breakfast!  Thank you also to Helen Bullen from Fine Fettle Multi-Healthcare who provided today’s Education Slot on using Facebook for your Business.

Chamber Member Colin Langley from The Leatherhead Theatre announced their Picnic on the Plaza on Bank Holiday Monday 26th August to celebrate their 50th Birthday, and has also provided details of upcoming events at The Theatre.

And Chamber Member David Robertson of Stream Properties is taking part in the Ride London Charity event on 4th August in support of fellow Member, The Grange Centre. David told us, "My lovely daughter, secured a place in the ballot for the Prudential Ride 100 on the 4th August, and then decided it would be a good bonding opportunity if I helped with her training and ideally joined the event and then tried to keep up with her on the actual ride. I recall that it seemed a good idea at the time……so yours truly is riding in support of a local charity, The Grange, based in Bookham, that provides residential care, assisted living services and daily activities for people with disabilities. I am sure you will have already given generously to many other causes this year, but if I could squeeze a few more pounds out of you, for a great charity that would be very much appreciated". David would be very grateful for donations to make this all worthwhile.

Everyone is reminded that one of the free benefits of Chamber Membership is the ability to promote their events via the Chamber’s Website and regular Update Emails – so Members, please do send details to Melodie Hunt at the Chamber office.

As ever, we are looking for Members to help Vice President Chris Webb with Membership, ideally based in Ashtead, Bookham, Fetcham and Leatherhead, to help on the ground in their immediate area.

Our next Networking Breakfast is on Wednesday 21st August at Leatherhead Parish Church Hall in Leatherhead, and we look forward to seeing you there.

Why not bring a colleague or contact who wishes to meet more local business people!  See HERE for our special Leatherhead Chamber Member benefit for those bringing a guest!

Transform Leatherhead is holding a Public Consultation on the Leatherhead High Street Improvement Proposals, and you are encouraged to have your say by completing the online questionnaire.

We are still looking for an additional two Directors, and also for more volunteers to take the 15-minute Educational Slot at future breakfasts.

We are always very pleased to see non-members at our networking breakfasts, and would be delighted to welcome them as new Chamber Members - please do take a look at the benefits of Membership on our website HERE.

Don’t forget that Chamber Members are invited to share their news and other items of interest with fellow Members via the Website and weekly Events & News Update – so please do get in touch.

And finally - I’m still keen to hear from Members with ideas for lunchtime or evening events, and look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

This is what you missed out on!

Many thanks to JP and his team who looked after us well today. Please refer to the Ashtead Park Garden Centre website for details.

A big thank you too to Nick Howes from LMI and Julia Philpot of JP Leadership Coaching for sharing their experiences of ‘Living with an Electric Car’,  and also to Martin West from Ashton Allsop for going through the potential tax advantages if you choose one for your business or yourself.

I mentioned the EV Show I visited in Oxford at the weekend.  It was organised by www.GogreenAutos.co.uk, who sell used electric vehicles from £5,000.  One of the businesses exhibiting was www.electriczoo.co.uk, which provides an independent consultancy service for business users, including analysis of existing vehicle use to determine suitability etc.  Nick’s advice was to get extended test drives of any electric cars you may be interested in, and Martin’s advice was to select your shortlist of electric vehicles and traditional ones, and then compare the pluses and minuses, including tax, before making your decision.  For those who run two cars at home, Nick took the view that an electric one as ‘second car’ would make a lot of sense!

Some of those who attended our breakfasts in April or May will recall the idea of having Afternoon Tea, and we now have a date for this – Tuesday 1st October at The Grange Centre – more details will be posted on the Chamber website shortly.

Everyone is reminded that one of the free benefits of Chamber Membership is the ability to promote their events via the Chamber’s Website and regular Update Emails – so Members, please do send details to Melodie Hunt at the Chamber office.

Business Networking Breakfast

Wednesday 17th April

7.30am to 9.30am

The Mezz Bar

The Leatherhead Theatre
7 Church Street
Leatherhead
KT22 8DN

This is what you missed out on!

Thank you to Kerry-Anne Kitson (Business and Marketing Manager) who made all of the arrangements for our breakfast, Jennai Cox (Artist Programme Manager) who attended, spoke about the Leatherhead Theatre, answered questions and volunteered a tour afterwards, and to Tina and Pippa who did the catering and provided an excellent continental breakfast.  NB: In addition to having spaces available to hire subject to availability, they can also cater for events held there by arrangement.

28 Members and guests enjoyed a great breakfast with plenty of open networking before and afterwards, the usual 60 second round, and an excellent presentation on Making Tax Digital by Chamber Member David Beckman, with Martin West talking about how one could use smart ways of capturing items such as copies of invoices received and business mileage into the cloud accounts package Xero, by using some of the other partner apps which one can use to do this and post items into the accounts automatically.  In this way, all of your account info is captured and posted and linked digitally which, for MTD, will be required by April 2020!

With David’s permission, the Presentation and Factsheet are available to Members on our Resources page. Members who have material of their own which they would like to share in this way are asked in the first instance to send it to Jeremy for review.

Everyone is reminded that one of the free benefits of Chamber Membership is the ability to promote their events via the Chamber’s Website and regular Update Emails – so please do send details to Melodie Hunt at the Chamber office.
