| Leatherhead
is the Business!
Leatherhead is the main commercial centre of the Mole Valley District. During the 1990's Leatherhead's business community has grown dramatically, and it is continuing to grow, with office and business park developments providing state-of-the-art accommodation for small to medium businesses. And it is not just the smaller boys that have seen why Leatherhead is such a good place in which to set up shop. The attraction of the town to businesses considering relocation or expansion has resulted in multi-international companies moving into the area. Organisations such as Esso, Halliburton Brown and Root, and Dunlop Slazenger have set up new headquarters here joining high tech companies such as Logica, ERA Technology and other international Research and Technology organisations. This influx of affluent professional employees creates opportunities for the smaller retailer, particularly those offering up-market products and services. The local economy is buoyant, with unemployment levels amongst the lowest in the UK. Studies by the Henley Centre show that the District performs well in terms of key drivers of economic growth such as industrial structure, quality of the labour force and social capital. The District Council provides stable and balanced local government , with no one political faction exercising overall control. Continuous development of Leatherhead town centre and of the town's leisure facilities rank high on the Council's priorities.
Three things make Leatherhead special as a place for business: First - Communication Links. Situated on the River Mole, in the heart of the beautiful Surrey countyside, Leatherhead has unrivalled communication links, by road, rail and air. Junction 9 of the M25 London Orbital motorway is just ½ mile from the town centre, with the M23 interchange 7 miles away. By rail, London Victoria and Waterloo are reached in about 35 minutes. The town is equidistant from Heathrow and Gatrwick airports - accessible by car in some 25 minutes. Please visit our Contact Us page to view a location map. Within a
10 mile radius there are several hotels suitable for accommodating business
visitors. Please visit our Local Hotels page

Accommodation in purpose-built, modern offices is generally available at around £25 per square foot, compared with the £40 typically to be found in the South-East. There are nine Business Parks in and around the town for business and light industrial use and a number of smaller office developments are underway close to the town centre. Fully serviced office accommodation is also available, providing all the supporting services needed. Notable amongst these is the prestigious Fetcham Park House - a Grade II listed building set in grounds originally landscaped by Capability Brown. Third
